The history of the Hollywood Branch library starts out like many others (e.g. founded by local women's club) but through the years its locale, patrons and staff have shaped it. As Hollywood grew from a small community to become a tourist destination, first because of artist Paul de Longpre and then as a movie studio mecca, the library kept pace--splitting not once, but twice--literally and figuratively. So far I've completed Part One (1905-1922) and Part Two (1923-1940) of its history, more to come...
